Wooden Tom

Meet Wooden Tom, a Scandinavian-style green wood worker and instructor based in Aviemore. As the name suggests, he’s mostly found in the beautiful forests of the Cairngorms carving various kitchen utensils and cups from the local Birch trees.

He offers carving courses for groups of up to 6 people in the woods around Aviemore – so much fun whether sitting in the sunshine or sheltering in the woodsman hut. Book in for a memorable day where Tom will draw on his 15 years’ experience to teach you some traditional skills. You’ll go home with a hand-carved kitchen utensil and more importantly, a new string to your bow.

Have a look at his online shop which sells unique handmade cups, goblets, and cooking utensils. There’s also a ‘Woodsmun Subscription’ which includes specially picked monthly carving projects delivered to your door for 3, 6 or 12 months. There are various packages, some including tools, but all including the wood needed and some comprehensive instructions.
