The location

Nestled between the beautiful Kinrara and Alvie Estates, Hillview Cottage is situated in a tranquil location 3 miles south of Aviemore and 2 miles north of the village of Kincraig. With spectacular views of the Monadhliath Mountains from the front, Hillview Cottage provides a sense of being in the middle of nowhere while being close to all the action. The Alvie Estate offers a fantastic range of activities for all the family including Zip Line, Quad Bikes, Archery and Horse Trekking. The Kinrara estate produces award winning Kinrara Gin, which can be sampled and purchased at the Kinrara Distillery on the outskirts of Aviemore.

Hillview Cottage is ideal for families or small groups of friends looking for a peaceful, rural location within the Strathspey area with the added benefit of easy and quick access to local amenities and wide range of activities on offer accross the Cairngorms national park.

The interiors

Lovingly refurbished to a high standard, Hillview Cottage offers fresh and comfortable self catering accommodation for up to 7 guests. With an eclectic mix of modern and vintage decor, the cottage has a homely, laid back feel. Beautiful reclaimed maple flooring, panelled walls and lots of natural elements and muted tones throughout to create a tranquil and inviting space. The living area and bespoke kitchen provide a spacious and comfortable space for social gatherings while the dark, luxe bathroom offers a relaxing and sumptuous space to relax and wind down. The wood burning stove is a beautiful focal point and always a favourite spot for our furry friends.

The garden

Hillview Cottage has a beautiful, fully enclosed (dog friendly) back garden with a large lawn, decking area for al fresco dining and a fire pit. Beautifully maintained, the garden provides a wonderful backdrop for the open plan kitchen and dining room, creating a real sense of being surrounded by nature. It’s a popular spot for wildlife and perfect for winding down while watching the birds and red squirrels come to feast.

“My family and I have stayed on several occasions at different times of the year. Hillview is a beautiful haven perfectly located - only 10 minutes from Aviemore and great for walking if you love a good country walk with the kids and dogs. The cottage offers everything you need for a short or long break; plenty of parking, beautiful gardens, for birdwatching and I spotted my first red squirrels there jumping off the back garden trees. The cottage is close to the Cairngorm Mountain Range, which means that you’re spoiled for things to do; we’ve skied, visited the Highland Wildlife Park, walked with Cairngorm reindeer (a must!), visited Loch Morlich and other stunning lochs. There’s sailing and quad biking close by too. Local restaurants are great but we also loved to eat in the cottage. The lounge log fire is just heavenly - especially when you've been out all day on adventures. 5 stars.” - Maxine
